On Sep. 25th, the Japan Konjac Association (Tokyo) announced that the export value of konjac products has increased 2.5 times compared to the 2019 fiscal year, before the spread of COVID-19. This rise is fueled by growing global health consciousness and the increasing popularity of Japanese cuisine. As demand for healthy foods continues to soar abroad, the association predicts further growth in exports.
The largest export market is the United States, with significant demand also seen in Hong Kong, Singapore, France, and the UK. Konjac is becoming widely recognized as a low-carb alternative to pasta and noodles worldwide.
