Have You Heard of '腸活' (Cho-katsu)? Discover Gut Health Management

by Keiko Yoshizawa 30 Jul 2024
Cho-katsu, known as gut health management in Japanese, focuses on maintaining or improving the health and functionality of your intestines. It involves practices such as dietary habits, supplementing with probiotics, and making lifestyle choices that support a balanced and healthy gut microbiome. The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in digestion, immunity, and overall health.

One effective method for Cho-katsu is through diet. Incorporating probiotic-rich foods like yogurt and miso to increase beneficial bacteria (probiotics), as well as consuming foods like mushrooms and seaweed that act as fuel for existing good bacteria (prebiotics), are recommended.

A highly recommended ingredient for Cho-katsu is konjac. Known traditionally as a 'broom for the intestines,' konjac is renowned for its digestive health benefits.

It can be challenging to overhaul your diet entirely to increase beneficial bacteria, so why not start with incorporating one easy item per day? Konjac jelly, for example, is convenient to carry and easy to eat anytime, plus it is delicious, making it simple for anyone to start Cho-katsu!

Why not give it a try? Your gut and taste buds will thank you!
